Do you have:
---heel pain with the first few steps in the morning?
---pain in the center of you heel when you walk?
---a dull ache or sharp, burning pain in you heel?
---a tugging or pulling in the heel of your foot?
If you have any of the above symptoms, you may be experiencing Plantar Fasciitis, or heel spurs.
Causes:
Plantar Fasciitis develops over a long period of time. The fascia and soft tissues of your foot could be stressed by repetitive motions that stress your legs and feet. Or these tissues could be stressed by standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time, or by increased physical activity. As a result of repeated stresses, tiny tears occur in the soft tissues of your foot. If the insult to the tissues continues while it tries to heal, inflammation occurs, causing the body to respond by laying down a web of scar tissue. This scar tissue causes shortening of muscles and restrictions in movements.
Treatments:
Traditional treatments for Plantar Fasciitis include ice, rest, stretching, orthotics, ultrasound injections and anti-inflammatories. However, while each of these treatments may relieve symptoms, the root cause of your pain remains.
ART—It Works!
One cause of pain in Plantar Fasciitis is that layers of tissue deep within the foot have lost their ability to move freely across one another due to scar tissue—adhesions—that have formed between adjacent structures. We feel and remove these soft-tissue restrictions, thus allowing the tissues to once again glide over one another as they were intended to do. And do so with quick results and no side effects!
